Date

Location

Architect
Carman Kwan, Principal Architect @ predecessor firm Hearth Architectural Inc.
The Lightfoot Residence is a heritage renovation project, originally constructed in 1903, showcasing the architectural characteristics of the Edwardian era. This residence stands out with its distinct roof massing, elegantly curved soffit details, and a front porch framed by simple posts, typical of the period’s architectural style.
During the renovation, the historical elements of the home were carefully restored, with special attention given to replicating its original design features. The exterior paint scheme was matched to the building’s early 20th-century colors, revitalizing its historic vibrancy. Additionally, the structure was upgraded to modern standards with the installation of a new foundation and the integration of seismic reinforcements for improved structural integrity.
The Lightfoot Residence was thoughtfully converted from a single-family home into five residential rental units, balancing historical preservation with the functionality of contemporary living. The renovation, completed in 2019, not only restored the building’s historical character but also adapted it for modern use, ensuring its continued relevance in the surrounding community.
